A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE NOXAPATER HIGH SCHOOL TIGERS BASEBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1998 DISTRICT 4 CHAMPIONSHIP, THE 1998 SOUTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND THE CLASS 1A, DISTRICT 4 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

WHEREAS, the Noxapater High School Tigers Baseball Team won the 1998 District 4 Championship, the 1998 South State Championship and the 1998 Class 1A, District 4 State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Tigers finished the season with a phenomenal record of 29 wins and 2 losses; and

WHEREAS, the Tigers have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Eddy Pierce and Assistant Coaches Jason Gentry and Chet Wilkes, who have broadened the players' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Eddy Pierce has brought additional honor to Noxapater High School by being named Coach of the Year for Division III Region VI by the American Baseball Coaches Association; and

WHEREAS, the Tigers have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Noxapater High School; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Noxapater High School Tigers Baseball Team and their coaches, Head Coach Eddy Pierce and Assistant Coaches Jason Gentry and Chet Wilkes, for winning the 1998 District 4 Championship, the 1998 South State Championship, the 1998 Class 1A, District 4 State Championship and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Noxapater High School, Head Coach Eddy Pierce and Assistant Coaches Jason Gentry and Chet Wilkes and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
